Creating a new future for 100+ talented, disadvantaged Black British students through university scholarships.

The Cowrie Scholarship Foundation (CSF) provides full scholarships for talented, disadvantaged, Black British undergraduate students at our UK partner universities.

Education transforms lives

We were set up in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd and renewed global focus on the Black experience. Our response is to provide 100+ full scholarships for Black British students by 2030.

We empower Black British undergraduates by providing fully funded scholarships (fees + living expenses) in partnership with universities, donors and businesses, supported by mentors.

Many issues influence the lack of Black British students in UK universities; financial support is a key way to address access, attainment and social mobility.

Those from underprivileged backgrounds risk being priced out of university or not graduating.

Since 2020, we have partnered with 26 UK universities, provided 52 full scholarships and raised fee pledges from universities of £4m+.

Over £600,000 has been raised in generous donations to unlock 52 sets of fees with maintenance grants – but we must unlock the rest.
